Pharmacological Action
Brevibacillus laterosporus produces a spectrum of compounds including cyclic decapeptides, basilliskamides and acyldipeptides with Candida inhibiting properties. It also competes with pathogenic organisms for enteric sites and nutrients within the Gastrointestinal (GI) tract by preventing these organisms from becoming dominant through multiplying and establishing themselves temporarily. This enables the resident flora to flourish.
Vitamin A assists the development of the body’s barriers to infection and stimulates and enhances immune functions, including antibody response and the activity of white blood cells such as T-helper cells and phagocytes.
Vitamin B6 helps brain function and helps the body convert protein to energy. It also helps to reduce homocysteine levels in the blood, lowering a person’s risk of heart attack. It also plays a vital role in promoting immunity by affecting functions such as white blood cell and antibody production. Vitamin B6 is also important for the absorption of zinc and is integral to the transfer of selenium in the body.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is an antioxidant, and it improves the anti-microbial and natural killer cell activities of the human immune system. It also acts as cofactor for enzymes which are important for improved metabolism of cholesterol, triglycerides, and other risk factors which helps to decrease the risk for cardiovascular disease. Vitamin C also assists in the regeneration of Vitamin E, and it helps to boost the synthesis of the essential hormones.
Vitamin D3regulates T cells, which are important to the functioning of a strong immune system. It also acts as an immune system modulator, preventing excessive expression of inflammatory cytokines and increasing the killing efficiency of macrophages. In addition, it stimulates the expression of anti-microbial peptides.
Vitamin E (d-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate) stimulates the production of B-cells that produce antibodies that destroy bacteria. It also assists the synthesis of prostaglandins that control processes such as inflammation.
Folic Acid assist the production of white blood cells that plays a major role in immunity. It also assists the production of red blood cells and the lowering of homocysteine levels in the blood.
Selenium improves immunity through an increased production if interferon and cytokines and an increase in T helper cells.
Zinc assists the development and activation of T-lymphocytes, a white blood cell that helps fight infection.
