Milk kefir grains are live active cultures consisting of yeast and bacteria existing in a symbiotic relationship. Adding the kefir grains to fresh milk yields a delicious probiotic drink in about 24 hours.
Kefir Grains to Milk Ratio:
Inactivated Grains 1st Two Batches: 20-30g Per 310ml Pasteurized Milk. (sift the grains out and throw the liquid away)
Activated Grains: 20-30g Per 1 Litre of Milk , Raw or Pasteurized
Best Fermentation and Kefir grain Growth is achieved by adding 5g of colostrum powder per litre of milk.
Fermentation best done in a flat glass container 50-70mm in depth.
Fermentation Cycle +-24 hours.
Cover Glass Container with a cloth or a non-airtight lid. Kefir needs some oxygen.
Sift Kefir grains out after 24 Hours and re-use
Keep Milk to Grain Ratio Correct at 20-30g Per litre of milk.
